NFL CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND IS HERE

Our sports reporter, George Pasquella, gives you the preview for the two big games this weekend, and makes his predictions.

NFC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 49ers have not won a road playoff game since 1989. But this 49ers team is built to win on the road. They are physical, tough, can run and play great defense. The key for the 49ers will be how well Colin Kaepernick plays in his first road playoff game. Last week he played well enough to beat Aaron Rogers and the Packers. But he will need to work a lot harder to beat the No.1 seed  Atlanta Falcons, who are coming off a big win from last week.  This will be a great game to watch, but after all four quarters have been played I predict that the Atlanta Falcons will win this game. The 49ers defense will show up to play but I believe the 49ers rookie QB will struggle to score on the Falcons’ defense.

AFC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Ravens are on a streak with two consecutive playoff victories, including a huge upset of the Broncos last week. Quarterback Joe Flacco has done a great job. Also the defense has caused some key turnovers. But the Patriots don't turn it over much. Tom Brady is so good at finding the mismatches in the secondary, and he's got a great feel for avoiding pressure in the pocket. Tom Brady is the most elite QB in the NFL. If you’re going to look at stats and data, the Pats are going to win. But since Ray Lewis told the world two weeks ago that he will retire after this season, the Ravens have pushed themselves to win one last Superbowl for the 16+ year veteran.
So this is a risky choice but I’m going with the Baltimore Ravens, just because they’re going to be playing with lots of gameday emotion.
