Cheerleaders are Competitive Athletes

Cheerleading Behind The Scenes
by Deja Wilkerson

Cheerleading is a sport that exudes school spirit. Cheerleaders help school involvement. Cheerleaders are also encouraging. They encourage the athletic teams to push their talent, and to never give up. Cheerleading expresses confidence. Cheerleaders are capable of lifting school spirit making everyone proud to be apart of the school that they came from.
Cheerleading is a sport, although many people don’t treat it as so. Cheerleaders have to work out and practice like the other teams. Cheerleaders are performers but in some way all sports are performing. Just like many teams have championship games cheerleaders have major competition. Cheerleaders are bonding people with thriving personalities.
Cheerleading expresses a family vibe, helping one another on many different levels to achieve a common goal. Like all teams there are disagreements but since it’s a major level of respect for one another nothing ever escalates. Constructive criticism is a huge part of cheerleading. Saying something to help the next person instead of harm. Usually many of the cheerleaders all over are able to take constructive criticism.
Being a cheerleader and a focused student is not easy but if dedicated it’s the most rewarding feeling ever. Cheerleading is time consuming so focusing is very important. To be a cheerleader grades are held to a certain standard. The passion that the student has for cheerleading influences them to complete their school work.
